Obama pledges to remove nearly all remaining US economic sanctions
In a move derided by human rights groups, Washington has pledged to fete the progress made by Myanmar’s new government by lifting nearly all remaining economic sanctions.
With a fatigued-looking Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at his side, US President Barack Obama yesterday lauded the “good-news story” that has unfolded in the wake of last November’s elections and the National League for Democracy taking up the reins of administration.
